I'd forgotten that I started this page, being so involved in finishing the Core Materials for The Gnomes of New Hope. I have a number of products which I started to post in the IMS Virtual Studio (which is titled Image of the Mind Studios) and I am trying to move those posts over to here or reproduce them.
As I mentioned elsewhere, I am currently working to set up a showroom at the studio for the numerous products we have that are associated with the Gnomes of New Hope, but beyond that, there are a number of gift items which I have developed and marketed to some degree over the years. I think is is a good idea to present them here in the gallery format. So expect to see these products get posted a little at a time. Some of the items are in production some are not. But in each case I will give a description of what the product is and what the terms are for them to be available.
The IMS Photo Stock Library - I spent many years as a photographer, not only doing commercial work, but collecting images I thought I would present in gallery exhibitions. Each time I managed to get a show together with twelve or more images, I ended up selling them or (more often) giving them away and never managed to have a solid exhibition. So some time ago, years really, I decided to quit doing photography as art. Mostly I think that decision was made for me when the industry switched over to digital. I just didn't want to invest in the new equipment and I was more involved in theatre at that point. Well, I have thousands of usable image in stock, little by little I am scanning images and processing them in Photoshop, making images that are ready for sale.
When I quit doing photography, part of the reason also was that I did not have a good filing system for the plethora of negatives, transparencies and prints, and so I needed to take the time to manage all these materials. At the time I thought I would save the photographic "desk" work for when I got older and couldn't do the heavy labor work of running a stage and building sets, moving heavy stuff. Well, I think I'm there. I'm still "bustin' my rear, but I'm movin' a lot slower doin' it". So I think that I will be starting to present some of the photographs in a catalogue, along with the product lines which I have developed to market the images. I have a collection of products which work for marketing the images, which I will post here when the time is right. Of course as I manage to make it work, there will be accommodation to purchase the items.
The work on Illustrating the Gnomes has quite a bit of help in this regard. The hundreds of images for that project have brought me up to speed with Photoshop and with filing away the scanned images. When I upgrade my primary workstation for the music, video and publishing work I am doing, then I will re-task the current Mac G5 to serve the needs of managing the photographic library. That, in combination with a high quality scanner, will bring about more of the images being offered here for sale.
There was a time when I would never be seen without a camera hanging around my neck. That lasted a good twenty or more years. Fortunately, film is not entirely dead. So I can still shoot from time to time. I do use a digital camera, but really only for documentary purposes, very rarely do I shoot for art's sake anymore. That may change, if I do end up with really good digital equipment.
This is all I will say on the subject. I know some people have wondered what was up with the photography. AG
